The pier in Progresso where the ship dock is 6.5 Km in length which was opened in 1989. Progresso is a port city of Yucatan state of Mexico located on the Gulf of Mexico in the north-west of the state. The drive to the nearest city Merida, which is the capital of Progresso, is about thirty minutes from the shore.
During the months July and August the beaches fill with thousands of local tourists to get away from summer and enjoy the cooler environment at seaside.
