Trees in the start of winter at Gruene....


It is nice to see the trees in winter. Trees go through a process called dormancy to keep them alive during winter. Dormancy helps to slow down everything within the plant. Metabolism, energy consumption and growth are controlled by the dormancy process. The first step the trees lose their leaves. they don't make food in winter, so have no use for masses of leaves.
