A German immigrant, Ernst Gruene and his family reached New Braunfels in 1845 built a home and further developed place into Historic Gruene. In 1974-75 new businesses were established and all of Gruene was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today Gruene is such a vibrant community to have fun and activities. Gruene hall, the antique shops, the live music under the water tower and the river walk are the attractions.
