Located in New Orleans, Louisiana, the port is the sixth largest in United States based on volume of cargo handled and the 13th largest based on value of cargo. It has the world's longest wharf which is 2.01 miles long with a facility to accommodate 15 vessels at a time. The port of New Orleans is the centre of the lower Mississippi River.
