The Christmas tree is the symbolic representation life and light. For generations we are following the decorations of Christmas trees irrespective of religion.
The tradition originated in Northern countries mythology and was revived in Germany during the sixteenth century. It started with the sacred tree. The Christmas tree is decorated with various offerings. Decorations include multi-coloured balls, angels, Baby Jesus, bows, miniature Santa, wooden objects of all sorts. Every year people around the world decorate Christmas tree. Children are the real lovers. But all are not aware why this has become a tradition. During winter the trees will have no leaves and to regain the spirits on the tree people decided to decorate the tree to show life within the tree and attract the spirits. The Christmas trees have a spiritual meaning behind it.
The evergreen colour represents the everlasting life and light.
The blue and white colours represents the snow and the winter.
The red colour represent the blood of Jesus the Saviour.
The silver and gold colours represents the richness of blessings showered on us by Jesus.
In the ornaments the Stars represent the star of Bethlehem, the lights represents the stars twinkling in the night sky, the tinsel is the little sparks of fire to keep warm in the winter, the metallic colourful balls help to invoke the spirit, the Bell brings back the lost sheep, the Candle represents the Divine Light to follow, the Bow represents the commitment bound to everlasting goodwill, the Candy Cane is the Good Shepard's crook used to bring back the sheep, the pinecones signify the fertility and motherhood and the Wreath symbolizes God's eternal love.
The decorations must be removed on the 12th day after Christmas that is on Jan 5th.
